Training Topics

Self-Talk: Self-talk is the talking you do in your own head about yourself and the things that happen, your own "running commentary" on your life. Often this self-talk happens so automatically that you are barely aware of it. However, what you say to yourself can have a big effect on the way that you feel, and on what you can achieve. Let's whip that "voice" into shape with these tips

Compression: You have probably seen people at races or running around town with compression socks or sleeves on. Maybe you have thought to yourself, “Do those really work?” or “I wonder if those would help my shin splints or calf cramps?” Let’s talk about what compression socks and sleeves do to help the body.

Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op Healthy Eating Recipes: There is nothing better when it's cold and rainy than this recipe for Lentil Minestrone from the Sacramento Natural Food Co-op. Toss everything in a large soup pot and let simmer- it doesn't get easier than that! Plus your home will smell of savory herbs and vegetables inviting you to sit, relax and breath in all the rich flavors.

Brooks "Run Happy" Tip: This week let's reinvigorate your routine! Pick one day to try something new. You could workout with a new friend, check out a new location or even just turn left when you normally turn right. Small changes will keep you motivated and help you stick with your training.
