Training Topics

Nutrition and Hydration: Getting enough exercise is only one part of the puzzle when it comes to feeling your best. Eating well also plays a huge role in how you feel not only day to day but also during your workouts. Make sure you perform well by fueling and hydrating properly. Need more guidance? Sign up for a session with Registered Dietitian, Katy Tenner and learn how to fuel right for your body and you goals.

Sports Bras: A poor fitting sports bra can hinder performance, make you uncomfortable and let's be honest, ruin your entire workout experience. Here are the "How's And Why's" when it comes to having a properly fitted sports bra.

Garmin: Ready to take your training to the next level? Garmin GPS watches could be exactly what you need to keep an eye on your pace, distance, heart rate, cadence and more. Find out which is the best watch for you!

Pace Calculator: McMillan Running offers runners and walkers a great tool for improving performance- a pace calculator. This is a new pace calculator for Fleet Feet Training, so please make sure to read our "How To" handout to walk you through the process. This is what you will input your assessment time into to receive your workout pacing guidelines.

Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op Healthy Eating Recipes: As our official Nutrition partner of Shamrock'n Training,  Sacramento Natural Food Co-op wants to make sure you have all the tools you need to eat healthy all week long. Try out these Whole Wheat Carrot Muffins for a quick take-and-go breakfast or post-workout snack. They are loaded with fiber to keep you full with the perfect hint of sweet and spice to ensure you'll make these again and again.

Brooks "Run Happy" Tip:  The #1 way to ensure you feel your best while walking or running is to have the perfect shoe for you. If you haven't already, stop by Fleet Feet any time to get fit for a great shoe that not only fits your foot size and shape, but also takes into account how your feet and body move. Aches and pains? We can help with that too! Short on time? Set up an appointment today

Functional Fitness: Join us Mondays at 5:45am or 6pm. Become a better runner or walker by building strength, agility, balance and more! Didn't register but want to add it on? Register here! This is the LAST week to add-on, don't miss out! What is Functional Fitness? Learn more here!

What's Happening in Training

Mark Your Calendars:

  • Assessment: Wednesday, January 18th all levels will be participating in a 1 or 2 mile assessment. This provides you with your baseline fitness level and will also give you specific pacing guidelines for a variety of workouts throughout training. We will do a 2nd assessment at the end of training to see how much you have improved! Does the word "assessment" sound a bit too intense? No worries! If you don't want to worry about the clock and don't have any interest in pacing guidelines, just use it as a great speed workout instead.
  • Great Bra Event: Ladies, support your girls! The Great Bra Event is this week! There are 3 days for you to choose from - January 19th, 20th, and 21st - for you to make an appointment with one of our Bra Fit Specialists and earn discounts and fabulous gifts with purchase.
