"Just keep taking chances and having fun." - Garth Brooks
It has come to my attention that the porta-potties we have placed at 100 Howe Ave have been continuously vandalized since their placement several weeks ago. We keep locks on the porta potties to keep them as clean as possible and each week we have discovered them cut and the porta-potties in disrepair. It pains me to let you know that after putting new "un-cuttable" locks on them yesterday afternoon, today the porta-potties themselves were discovered with the handles cut - apparently forgoing the need to deal with the locks at all. This angers me to no end. Not only does this create issues for the property management and the porta-pottie companies, but it now forces me to make the decision to pull the porta-potties from this location. I completely understand that this is not a perfect solution and it causes issues for you, the trainees and my main concern. But I also know that coming to a location with vandalized porta-potties does not offer you the VIP experience we work so hard to provide. It is for these reasons that until further notice, there will no longer be porta-potties offered at 100 Howe Ave. Please make sure to utilize the facilities before you arrive for the workout. For emergencies, there is a Safeway just north on Howe ave and bathrooms along the American River Parkway.
My deepest apologies and sincerest regrets,
Fleet Feet Sacramento
How to manage the long run: The long workout means different things to different people. Some people welcome the chance to go out for a long workout and to go at a very easy pace. Other people get overwhelmed with the distance (particularly first timer half marathoners). Here are some strategies that might be helpful to finding your way of coping with the increased mileage.
Blisters: Blisters are a common problem for runners and walkers caused primarily by improper gear choices. While most blisters don't pose a serious health risk, they should be treated with respect. Here some tips for preventing and treating blisters.
Overtraining: Getting the most out of your training is a fine line between training enough and resting enough to improve but not over doing it and becoming overtrained. Here’s a look at overtraining and some suggestions to help avoid it.
Wearing Identification During Workouts: Everyday, people leave their homes to go for a run or a walk without any form of identification. If you have an unexpected accident while running or walking you could be in bad shape - nobody would know who you were or who to contact. Whether you are running, cycling, or going for a walk we encourage you to wear some form of identification. Road ID has a variety of products and are quite popular with our staff - we even have coupons for free shipping under the training display in the store.
