Run on the Sly Features New 12K Course

0 Comment(s) | Posted

In just two weekends we will be out in the hills again getting sweaty and dirty - will you be there?  Run on the Sly Trail Runs are Sunday, August 21st near Sly Park in El Dorado County.  Historically the shortest distance featured at Run On The Sly was an 8 mile out and back. We have made the change this year to make this a loop rather than an out and back for the safety of the runners.

The new distance is 12K (7.4 miles). It may be shorter but it’s long on character.  The race start is in the same location.  Runners feel the heat as they head up the hilly gravel path on Old Carson Rd. and make a left over the wooden bridge.  From here we are on private property along the canal that is shaded by redwoods.  Runners experience the burn as they make a final ascent to the Overlook aid station from the canal road. Here they make a hard right onto Park Creek Rd. and get a bit of a relief from the hills. Park Creek Rd. is a fire road flanked by dogwood trees.  We wanted to keep it interesting so we’ve added Christine’s Cut Off which is a right turn off of Park Creek Rd. Christine’s Cut Off is a gorgeous switchback that takes you back to the canal system and returns you to the finish line.

Haven't yet registered?  Click Here to choose from 1 of 4 distances that will be both fun and challenging.

Newest Product on the Floor...the Buff

0 Comment(s) | Posted

We've just finished unpacking our latest shipment of Buffs.  A what?  A Buff.  Believe us, this is one piece of gear that will leave you thinking, "Why didn't I think of that??!!"  A buff is a seamless tubular garment made from a high-performance microfiber that can be manipulated for many different uses.  It's the best of a bandana, neck gaiter, beanie, headband, helmet liner, balaclava, sun/dust/wind screen, scarf, pirate-style cap, hairband, wristband....must we continue?  Given its breathable, moisture-wicking qualities, a Buff offers the same performance benefits that we athletes demand from other high-tech garments and is even available with UV protection and in fleece for the winter.  Our trail runners love dipping theirs into cold creeks and wearing it on their heads while the wet trickles down to cool them off.  Our cyclists love having something under their helmets for their commutes to and from work.   Buffs come in a variety of colors and patterned prints, so it's easy to find one, or two, or three that will match your style.

Thank You for a Great Evening

Thanks to all who came out to our Training Programs Kick Off Night last night, we had so much fun.   Amphipod's Build-A-Belt station was super popular, and everyone loved checking out the latest footwear from New Balance.  The Garmin, Trigger Point and Power Bar stations were busy all night with demos, tastings, raffles and more.  Fleet Feet Sports is so thrilled to have 500 Training Program participants on board with us this fall....just think of how many lives will be positively impacted in the coming months.  If you missed out on the action last night, but would still like to register, here's your chance:  Fleet Feet Training Programs.
