We honor the memory of Paul Reese, race founder and local running legend. Paul passed away in November, 2004, at age 87. Paul organized the first Pepsi 20-Mile Run on Nov. 26, 1966, which later became the Clarksburg Country Run. It was one of the Sacramento area’s first organized runs and the largest for many years. Paul set numerous national records in his 40’s through his 80’s. He wrote several books chronicling his many cross-state and cross-country runs. His dedication to running continues to inspire all who knew him. This year, we offer an “Historic 20-Mile” distance to further remember Paul.
At this year’s race, on Veteran’s Day, we honor and thank all those who have served honorably in the military.
Post-race Updates
Thanks for participating in the 42nd Annual Paul Reese Memorial Clarksburg Country Run on Sunday, November 11, 2007. We had a near-record turnout out a sunny, breezy day.
Finish Medals
We apologize running out of finish medals for about 120 finishers in the 30 km, half-marathon, and 20 mile. We recorded the bib numbers of all those who need a medal. This included all finishers over 3:42:23 in the 20 mile and 3:12:29 in the half marathon and 30 km. We will get these produced and mailed out as soon as we can. I estimate this will take 3 to 4 weeks.
Race Results
Race results are now posted (see below). If you have a question about the results or need a name or time corrected, please contact the timing company directly at: results@capitalroadrace.com.
Age Division Awards
If you placed in the top three in your age group or division and did not pick-up your award on race day, it is available at Fleet Feet Sports Sacramento through December 15. Awards not picked up by December 15 are donated to charity. Race awards are not mailed.
Shirts
We regret that we ran out of shirts on race day. Shirts are first-come, first-served for late registrants, as was stated on the web site and entry materials. Race day entry was reduced $5 for those who did not receive a shirt. We will not be printing any more shirts.
Race Photographs
To be notified when race photographs will be posted online and available for purchase, visit http://www.capturethemoment.net.
Why Did We Run Out of Shirts and Medals?
Several weeks before this year’s race, entries were down 30% from year ago. We have to estimate how many shirts and medals we need about a month before the race. This year, we had a higher-then-normal number of people wait until the last 10 days to enter. In addition, more than 375 folks waited until race weekend to register. Maybe you were one of them. Obviously, we can’t get more medals and shirt on such short notice. Thanks for your patience and we promise to get medals mailed out to all who need them as soon as possible.
Thanks again and good luck with your training and racing,
Doug Thurston
