Training Topics

Hydration and Fueling: A hydration and fueling plan is vital to maintain an even performance and enjoyable feeling for the duration of the workout. The longer you run, the more important having an understanding of your hydration and fueling needs becomes. Here are some tips to help you with your hydration and fueling plan.

Exercising in the Heat: Spring is officially here and with that so are warmer temperatures. And as the temperature rises, running in the heat doesn't have to be a total suffer fest. Here are some tips to help you suffer less during the heat.

Whole Foods Healthy Eating Recipes: This week's healthy eating recipe from Whole Food's Market contains a healthy dose of omega-3 fatty acids from flax oil, which lends a delicious nuttiness to the creamy dressing in this Chickpea and Broccoli Salad with Flax-Tahini Dressing. It's perfect for summer and fall lunches and suppers.

Deena Kastor "Sound Body Sound Mind" Tip: "Choose a time (mine is when I am lacing up my running shoes) to give yourself a pep talk. Each workout is an opportunity for progress. In the short span of your training you build your fitness and your confidence so set yourself up for success."

Speed School

Speed School: For those of you who are registered for Monday Night Speed School your second workout will be tonight @ 6:00 pm at William Land Park, near Doc Oliver Field. Bring a water bottle, yoga mat or towel for stretching and core work and a watch. Space is still available if you would like to add this exclusive training experience.

Pace Calculator: After last Monday's workout, enter your 1 mile assessment time in our pace calculator. This will serve two purposes; first to give you your ideal 5k and 10k pace guidelines for future workouts and also to give you a baseline for comparison at the end of the 8 weeks.

Drills: Last week Coach Jeremy taught you some essential drills to prime your bodies and get them ready for faster speeds and more efficient running form. As a refresher, here is a great video from Competitor.com to help guide you through each of our key drills.
