Race Prep:  For those taking part in the Kaiser Permenente Women's Fitness Festival 5k or 10k event, let's review some helpful tips so you are prepared for race day.

How to Race a 5k or a 10k: Whether you are training for your first 5k or 10k, or perhaps your tenth, you will want to finish strong and feel that you had your best race. Here are some tips to help you achieve great results with your next 5k or next 10k.

Whole Foods Healthy Eating Recipes: Kale is a chefs' favorite for simple and nutritious leafy green sautés in this Savory Greens Stir-Fry. The dark bluish-green, finely curled leaves are a visual treat while the mild, slightly peppery flavor blends with garlic, water chestnuts and mushrooms for a delightful dish. Deena Kastor "Sound Body Sound Mind" Tip: "Sometimes we fall into routines that don’t benefit us. Do you wear the same shoes just because you’ve run in that model for the past decade? Ask the experts at Fleet Feet to reassess your stride. Do you run out the door without breakfast? Try waking early enough for some coffee and toast."

Speed School 

Speed School: Change of location! For those of you who are registered for Monday Night Speed School your next workout will be tonight @ 6:00 pm at McKinley Park on the corner of H and Alhambra due to the Clinton fundraiser in Land park. Bring a water bottle, yoga mat or towel for stretching and core work and a watch.

Tweener Schedule: Next Monday is your last Speed School Session. But what can you do to keep up your speed before the next program? Follow these great tips for at-home speed work you can do anywhere.

Waiting for Race in the VIP Area

  • Location: The VIP area will be in front of the State Capitol on 10th Street, near the N Street intersection. Look for the Fleet Feet Training arch.
  • Fueling and Hydration: Consider breakfast time vs. race start time and consider bringing snacks (we will have coffee and water in the VIP area). Make sure you have your hydration belt/bottle. 
  • Make sure you have your wristband on to gain entry
  • We ask that family and friends do not come into the VIP area before the race, but they are welcome to enter with you after you finish the race.
