Workout Times and Locations

  • Wednesday, April 20th @ 6:30 pm - Auburn Dam Overlook Park: 855 Pacific Avenue, Auburn  (workout directions)
    • Don't forget a water bottle or hydration pack. 
    • Bring a yoga mat or towel for stretching afterwards. 
    • Nathan and Hoka will be back out with great demos for you to try! 
  • Sunday, April 24th @ 7:30 am - Cronan Ranch, Coloma, CA (workout directions)
    • Don't forget a water bottle or hydration pack and yoga mat or towel.
    • Parking lot is shared by horse folks & bicyclists so carpooling is strongly encouraged! Reach out to your fellow Trail Heads via our Facebook group or exchange numbers at Wednesday's workout.

Training Topics 

Trail Lingo: Everyone knows trail runners are a little bit goofy, so it’s no surprise we have a language all our own. Think of this as a guide to trail runner's lingo.

Strength Training: To become the best, most efficient runner you can be, just running isn’t going to be enough. Strength training is one of the best ways to become a better runner. Add these strength training exercises to your workout routine and you’ll become a stronger, faster, and better runner for it. Better yet, join Boot Camp on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and discover why this class is a Trail Heads favorite! Next session starts May 10th. 

How To Fall: Everyone has fallen or will eventually fall when trail running. All you can do is try to minimize the occurrences and mitigate the severity of the impact. Here are some tips to remember when you feel yourself stumble out on the trails. 

Nathan Hydration Tip of the Week:
Hydrating during a run helps cushion your joints, helps to regulate body temperature, and prevent overheating. 

What's Happening in Training 

Sign Up for Dirty Secret Trail Run: Online registration is now open and filling up fast. A truly great trail is inspiring, has hidden secrets and plenty of challenges. The Fleet Feet Dirty Secret Trail Run has all of these features packed into two scenic course options: a Short Course; 5.8 miles and a Long Course; 10.3 miles.

Poppy Pass: Many of our training locations will have pay-for parking. One of the best ways to avoid these fees is to purchase a California State Poppy Pass. There will be a few opportunities where Ranger Pat will come to a workout to sell Poppy Passes. You may also purchase these online or at the Park Pass Sales Office located at 1416 9th Street, Room 144, Sacramento, California. When you purchase local- the money stays local!
