Training Topics

Poison Oak: This shrub is flourishing all over our trails thanks to all the rain we have gotten. Do you know what to look out for, or how to treat it should it brush against you? Here are some helpful tips in case you come in contact with this plant.

Uphill & Downhill Running: As much as we all like to complain about them, we know that hill training is necessary and important... especially for trail. Make sure that you are getting every ounce of benefit from hill training by tackling them properly. Follow these tips and know that the hills are worth it!

What Socks Should I Wear For Trail: The inside of most shoes are like a greenhouse; hot & wet. And it’s a widely known fact that wearing the right running shoes is important for every runner; however, making sure that you have a good pair of running socks to wear along with your running shoes is just as important.

Nathan Hydration Tip of the Week: A sore muscle is a thirsty muscle! Hydrate after a run to help your muscles recover quicker.

What's Happening in Training

Halfway Celebration and Potluck: Mark your calendars for your Halfway Celebration and Potluck on April 10th. Bring a yummy snack or drink to share with the group after your workout. Please be mindful of any possible food allergies - so if you prepare something from your kitchen be sure to put a note on it with any allergy causing ingredients (i.e. nuts, wheat, dairy, soy, etc).

Poppy Pass: Many of our training locations will have pay-for parking. One of the best ways to avoid these fees is to purchase a California State Poppy Pass. There will be a few opportunities where Ranger Pat will come to a workout to sell Poppy Passes. You may also purchase these online or at the Park Pass Sales Office located at 1416 9th Street, Room 144, Sacramento, California. When you purchase local- the money stays local!

Sign Up for Dirty Secret Trail Run: Online registration is now open and is filling up fast. A truly great trail is inspiring, has hidden secrets and plenty of challenges. The Fleet Feet Dirty Secret Trail Run has all of these features packed into two scenic course options: a Short Course; 5.8 miles and a Long Course; 10.3 miles.
