Kickoff Event

Trail Heads Trail-Gate Party

When: Wednesday, June 8th at 6:00 pm
Where: Auburn Dam Overlook, 855 Pacific Ave, Auburn (workout directions)

  • Start with a 2-5 mile "tester" trail run and enjoy shoe demos from Hoka One One.
  • Test out the latest products for all things "trail", shopping, meet our Trail Heads coaches and enjoy our root-beer float bar!
  • Raffle prizes and goodies. 
  • Pickup your one of a kind Trail Heads neck gaiter, your training schedule and $15 Fleet Feet Sports coupon. 
  • Bring a friend, there is still space in the program! 

Training Topics 

Come Prepared: Are you ready for your first workout? Here are a few great things you will need to come prepared to the first workout.

S.M.A.R.T. Goals: "A goal is a dream with a deadline." What would you like to get out of this training? Are you looking to run your first trail race? Do you have a specific time goal? Whatever your goal, it's important to put it in writing and create an action plan. Here is a fantastic worksheet to make sure you are setting S.M.A.R.T. goals.

Carpooling: We encourage carpooling to all our trail training locations. We will have a carpool list at all workouts. Add your name and number and check the sheet often if you are interested in carpooling.

Poppy Pass: Many of our training locations will have pay-for parking. One of the best ways to avoid these fees is to purchase a California State Poppy Pass. There will be a few opportunities where Ranger Pat will come to a workout to sell Poppy Passes. You may also purchase these online or at the Park Pass Sales Office located at 1416 9th Street, Room 144, Sacramento, California.

Bootcamp: Looking to get stronger on the trails? Our BootCamp class is the perfect addition to the Trail Heads training program. One hour long body-weight workouts at William Land Park every Tuesday and Thursday will help you conquer those hills. Purchase the punch card to join in before session 3 starts in July! 

Facebook Page: Join us on Facebook! We have set up a Trail Heads Training Facebook page exclusively for our trainees. This is a great spot to communicate with fellow trainees in the program.
